Parent-to-be frugster Mick is taking "a more liberal approach to recording" by mixing new tracks in Sarm West, London, while Keith messes about with some other songs and Charlie "one take" Watts untypically fevers his brow with producer Don Was in Santa Monica's Ocean Way Studios.
These elements come together in an autumn-scheduled RS album which they promise will be "different", although still stay within the boundaries of their blues/rock heritage. Three tracks were produced by the Dust Brothers and the remainder is being overseen by Was. The band have collectively delivered a "we'll let you know" kiss-off to the album's initial producer, Babyface, whose contribution won't make the final cut.

The album may in fact be called 'Rock' rather than 'Blessed Posion' or 'Virtual Blessings'.

Stones People Magazine states the name of the new album, 'Virtually Blessings', and that it will be released on September 1. And that a single will be released August 18.
Virgin says a new single will be released August 11 and the album September 1 (alternatives August 25 or September 15).

The Rolling Stones have finished their new album and may possibly be hitting the road in very late August.

The L.A. Times reports that the band has completed 13 songs for consideration on the new CD including 'Thief in the Night', 'Out Of Control', 'Juiced', '(I'm Not A) Saint', 'Already Over Me', 'Always Suffering', 'Nobody's Seen My Baby', 'Gin Face', 'How Can I Stop' (sung by Keith Richards), 'Slip the Switch', 'You Don't Have to Mean It', 'Too Tight' and 'Any Way You Look At It'. Missing from the Times' list was 'Blessed Poison' a song Charlie Watt said earlier this year was the working title track.
The CD sports a few interesting guest appearances as well: Me'shell N'degeocello was brought in to play bass on 'I'm Not A Saint', which she described to the Boston Globe as sporting "an old-fashioned, funky kind of groove", and the Times says jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter and violinist Lili Haydn also appear on the album. Unconfirmed reports say that Eric Clapton contributed some guitar, drummer Jim Keltner helped out as did singers Bernard Fowler and Blondie Chaplin, and keyboard player Bernie Worrell.
Confirmed production luminaries included executive producer Don Was, Babyface, the Dust Brothers, Danny Saber and Stephen Lironi.

The Rolling Stones sessions wrapped up last week in Hollywood, with 13 songs being considered for the band's still untitled album. The tracks are 'Thief in the Night', 'Out Of Control, 'Juiced', 'Saint', 'Already Over Me', 'Always Suffering, 'Nobody's Seen My Baby', 'Gin Face', 'How Can I Stop' (a Keith Richards vocal), 'Slip the Switch', 'You Don't Have To Mean It', 'Too Tight' and 'Any Way You Look at It'.
Guest musicians included Meshell Ndegeocello on bass, jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter and violinist Lili Haydn. It's still uncertain what the balance of the album will be, with disparate production approaches taken on various songs by pop veterans Don Was and Babyface and young arrivals the Dust Brothers, Danny Saber and Stephen Lironi.

Sessions continue on the Stones new LP. Two new tracks listed as working titles are 'Theif In The Night' and 'Ever Changing World'.
Charlie said to be deeply involved in the recording process more so than anytime in the Stones brilliant career.
Keith seems to be the guiding force as the sessions continue on until he gives the sign, calling it a day. Help in the form of Waddy Watchel Keith's pal from the X-Pensive Winos and ex tour guitarist for Jackson Browne, Linda Rondstadt, and Stevie Nicks along with the Beatles old buddy drummer Jim Keltner.
The Stones we're still exploring different avenues noted Don Was with conotations on the sound they want. The boys are said to be in wonderful spirits sounding tight and excited about the new release.

Remixer Danny Saber (Garbage, U2) entered the studio with the Stones to produce one song for their as yet-untitled album. Saber will finish his brief tenure as producer later this week, in time to fly back to England to finish the next Black Grape album. The Stones have also already worked with Grammy Award-winning producer Babyface on at least one track and the Dust Brothers on at least two, according to a source in the studio. One song, produced by Babyface, tentatively called, 'Are You Already Over Me', is described by the source as a "gorgeous" ballad.
In the studio, the Stones' unofficial fifth member, Darryl Jones, is sharing bass duties with Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Saber, who plays on the song he's producing. Babyface reportedly adds keyboards to 'Are You Already Over Me'.
The studio source says the Dust Brothers-produced songs have a "thicker and meaner groove." However, the album, which should be ready to be mixed in July, isn't a major departure from previous Stones albums.
