Mordheim Ostermark Warband

My Mordheim warband is currently Ostermarkers (to keep in line with my Empire army), for which I use Reiklander rules. This makes sense since these boys aren't just any old ruffians, they are part of (what's left of) the Ostermark standing army, sent out by Archduke Gottfried to retrieve the Wyrdstone that is rightly theirs (Mordheim is in Ostermark after all). The models are a mix of plastic Mercenaries, plastic Soldiers/Crossbowmen of the Empire and a few spare parts from by bits box and I think it looks quite good. Since these images were taken the warband has expanded quite a bit (not to mention getting fully painted), but I hope to bring this page up to date soon. These aren't proper scans though, they aren't photographed but just laid on the scanner itself with a black cloth on top, so the images aren't the best. Still, any comments are appreciated.

Marshall Reinhardt (my Captain) himself flanked by his loyal Champions Captain Conell (left) and Admiral Schuster (right). Reinhardt himself is quite deadly now, as he has aqquired +1A and is Hardened. Both the Champions have Mighty Blow to deal with those tough opponents.

Warrior Heinrich (center) has now been promoted to a Hero. His Sprint skill and increased I can come as a surprise to many opponents. Youngblood Albert (right) has gone from WS2 to WS3 to WS2 again, due to a recent hand injury. To prevent further accidents he has been given step aside. Youngblood Karl (left) replaced the identical and now deceased Youngblood Hanz, and has now gained an additional attack. Quite handy!

Marksmen Johann (left) and Franz (right and middle - partly painted by Mattias Fleischer) dominate any open lines due to their crossbows and BS5! These guys have won me some games almost alone. Marksmen Friedrich (left) and Mannfred (right) aren't quite as powerful, but moving and shooting can do wonders, especially if you're playing a scenario that requires mobility. They are also rather good in h-t-h, having I4 and 2A (3 with additional daggers).

My pride and joy is Swordsman Klaus Schenk (left and middle pictures), not only is it a great model - which doesn't show very well in this scan - but he is also amazing in combat. Rerolling misses on charge, WS4 and parry is good enough, but he has recently gained an extra attack as well, which makes a total of 3 with the double swords! He has held his own against tooled-up Assasin Adepts and Possessed for several turns. For this reason I've asked him to recruit his younger brother Wilhelm Schenk (right), who is as yet untried in combat. Note: as the back half of one of Klaus' swords is undercoated black it doesn't show up on the scan. I've added a very rudimentary replacement in Photoshop to show you how big it is.

A converted Pit Fighter (not quite finished) who sometimes joins the warband. The body is from a Necromunda Orlock (whose head, arms, hair and weapons had been used for other projects - so I had to finish his misery) while the head comes from the old HeroQuest Barbarian, with a Soldiers of the Empire cap to finish it off. This is also where the Fighting Spike comes from (cut-off sword). The Morning Star is a Flail from the Mordheim Skaven sprue that a friend generously donated.
