HistoryStromsholm, royal house in Vastmanland (province in center of Sweden). From 1555. Rebuilt 1669-1681 by N. Tessin and got 1767-1775 gustavian (Louis-seize-style) interior. Gustav Vasa (Swedish king b. 1496 - d. 1560) established a "stable-establishment" here, Sweden's first stud farm, closed down 1872. Stallion depot, founded by Karl XI (Swedish king b. 1655 - d. 1697), closed down 1955. Riding school practiced by the army with an officer academy 1868-1968. Also look at S. 1646, 1679 and 1749
