Eva at a cairn

Eva at a cairn from the bronze age near home, August 1996.

My name is Eva Lahti and I work as a development engineer at the Noise and Vibration Center at Volvo Car Corporation, where I try to make the car as quiet as possible. My husband Hans, on the other hand, tries to get as much nice sound out of the audio equipment as possible in the same cars, but for the time being he's home taking care of our lovely little son Gustav.

I was born and raised in a small town called Skara, where my parents still live. In 1986 I moved to Gothenburg to study at Chalmers University of Technology and in 1990 I got my M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, but that was not enough so I continued with a Lic.Eng. in Structural Mechanics. My licentiate thesis was called "FE-solution of granular materials flow in silos". At that time, I thought it would be interesting to leave the academic world and try a normal work, so I started my career as a development engineer at the NVH department at Saab Automobile in Trollhättan, 80 km north of Gothenburg, where I had the opportunity to take part in the development of the very lovely new Saab 95. Unfortunately, the communications between Gothenburg and Trollhättan isn't as good as I would like. Since I didn't enjoy spending three to four hours a day between home and work, I took the chance to work at Volvo instead when I got the opportunity. Now I live only 4 km from the office, and when it's not snowing I go to work by bike.

As a mother I spend most of my free time taking care of Gustav, but I also have some time to work in our garden. I also enjoy working with my computer (Mac LC III) and meeting friends. Some day I hope I have some more time for handcraft and music.
