More then 25 scuba divers, their friends and familys will participate in an underwater clean up of Uppsala town centre on Saturday 19th September 1998. This event is open to the public and is scheduld to begin at 8am.

Last year there were more than 35'000 scuba divers doing over 200 clean ups sponsored by scuba diving stores throughout the USA. This Year Diving With Bubbles is conducting this event together with PADI, The Project A.W.A.R.E. Foundation and the Centre for Marine Conservation's International Clean up Day.

PADI's Project A.W.A.R.E. program (Aquatic World Awareness, Responsibility and Education) is designed to educate the public, both those who dive and those who do not, about the need to protect aquatic areas. Project A.W.A.R.E. events take place at various times of the year. The month of September has been designated as Project A.W.A.R.E. month. During this time, hundreds of PADI Dive Centres throughout the world will conduct clean ups underwater, on the beach and in their  town centres etc. As well has clean ups, PADI also conducts educational seminars and courses related to these concepts.
