Introduction

Emergo-Train: system for education and training in disaster medicine,
emergency medicine and trauma management.

Aims

The aim of the system is to teach and train organisation, command and management of patients in medical emergencies where the resources are insufficient in relation to the need of medical care by:

- Illustrating the discrepancy between available resources and need of resources

- Training decision making by supplying all information needed for a decision and clearly illustrating the consequences of the decisions in the whole chain of medical care.

- Training organisation, command and ordination by simultaneous illustration of the whole chain of rescue and medical care.

Methodology

The system consists of:

- Magnetic symbols illustrating all units and staff in the chain of rescue and medical care, patients and patient-records.

- Colour pictures (colour prints, slides or overhead) illustrating injured patients.

- Movable markings for the patients, indicating priority and patient management (measures performed).

- Video-tapes presenting different scenarios.

- Introduction video showing in detail how to use the system.

- Simulation exercises with manual including questions and answers (”teachers solution” to the participants) and description of patient with teacher solutions regarding priority and management.

- Computer program for individual training of specific parts of the training programme.
