Killer Yetis Paper

With just one point the Killer Bears miss the playoffs... Despite a wonderful season by the new franchise they won't get to play in the playofs. In any other division the Bears would have easily qualified but as it is they failed...

Yetis 1st season won't be remembered as a joyus one, but that was never expected either. On a good note they finished the season with 2 straight wins! Keith & Ty Jones had good seasons and if only Dmitri Mironov would have played more defensivly it could have been many more points. The goalkeeping was a big question for the Yetis with 3 regular keepers jumping in and out until Fitzptrick secured that spot after getting rid of his painful injury. It can only be better for the Yetis that still managed to play solidly in the special teams situations.

When the awards of the KillerBears & Yetis franchise were handed out there was a man that stole the show. MVP, Center of the year, rookie of the year, most goals scored etc etc = Olli Jokkinen!! He wasn't expected to be such a hit immidiatly. He was more of a longterm investment by GM Bily but if he continues to develop into an even greater player then the managemnet has done a real coup! Stumpel deserves a mentioning too. Were it not for Olli he would have certainly received all the awards that the young finn received last night. Jason Doig is the surprise of the year, he cheated Olli from that award. Nobody knew anything about him and nobody cared. Then he went and scored 71 points, 2nd in the intern pointtable! Doig was brillint through out the whole season and it's a shame the Bears won't get the chance to play in the playoffs cause many experts had tipped them as strong outsiders.

KillerBears miss the playoffs

Bill Ranford received the Keeper of the Year award which was totally expected. He was the nr.1 goalie of the Bears through out the whole season and played very well.

The Killer Bear & Yetis franchise is a very young franchise but except for Barrasso, Moog  Mironov the players are also all very very young. In the draft that is coming up the franchise will try to find another Doig, even if that seems impossible. New defenders and wingers are what's needed. The keepers and centers are solid and they perform like clockwork.

Despite the missed playoffs the franchise was a financial hit with a substantiol amonut of money left untouched. These money wil now go into improving the arenas and to try and flater a lot of players to come to Anchorage and play their hockey for us...
