Blues, trade kings?

another two trades made!!

Blues - Kings

Two teams that like to trade and Kings' second trade in just a couple of days...

To Blues: Morozov

To Kings: Rivers + 2nd pick

Kings once again traded one of their right wingers. This time it was time for the very talented and future prospect Morozov to leave. Morozov is expected to become a good if not great player in the NHL. For him they received defender Rivers. This was surprising as they have no need for him. He is probably an insurance in case of injuries on one of their other defenders or maybe they are looking to trade away one of their defenders? Looking at the players Blues easily wins but once that pick was thrown in the trade looks more even. A 2nd pick in next years entry draft could be worth more then expected and if used properly maybe the Kings will come out of this as winners after all... But if Morozov delivers what is expected, then Blues will win no matter what that pick is used as.

Blues - Canadiens

Blues made yet another trade minutes after, this time with rookie GM Rämö.

To Blues: Turcotte and Brown (Brad)

To Habs: Ricci and Roberts (David)

It looked like the Blues would be short on defenders when they pulled this one of. They traded away Ricci who never hada future in Blues and received Turcotte. Both players are defensive and very much alike with Ricci being a couple of years younger. Both players struggle somewhat in the NHL with Turcotte perhaps playing better. The interesting part of the deal is the Roberts-Brown swap. Brown is a much younger more promising player then Roberts. Roberts won't probably play many games in the NHL nor the LML. I think the deal went like this: Habs wanted Ricci. Blues wanted Brown. Turcotte and Roberts were used to even up the trade.

Blues look to have won this one, if not by a landslide. With Turcotte they get the same player as Ricci but they also got themselves a young promising defender in Brown. Roberts? He might as well not have been aprt of the deal. Ricci was the one the Habs wanted and the ygot him but they paid to get him...
