Blues rip of Sabres?

At first this trade sure looks uneven as Blues get a proven keeper + a pick for a player that is only known for being big...

To Blues: McLean & Sabres' 4th pick

To Sabres: Halversson

Blues get a good solid goaltender in McLean, something they needed as they really had no back up to Fuhr. Sabres was always going to use Fitzpatrick as their starter but as they have only a couple of talented youngsters that are a long way from being ready for the pro's the move was a little surprising. Had they kept him they could have alternated and used the keeper that was best at the moment. Now they are basically stuck with Fitzpatrick no matter what.

Sabres get Halverson. A 25 year old tough guy with very little skills. He has only one game under his belt in NHL this year so to think that he will become a great player within the next few years is probably hoping for too much.

A trade that would have sent Halverson for just McLean would be a rip of. But now the Blues also get a 4th pick out of it, which is just too much... Blues killed on this trade. They killed brutally!
