"In the media circus of life, they were the main attraction..."
NBK got the script by Tarantino but is directed by Oliver Stone. A lot of people says
that Stone "ruined" QTīs script, but my opinion is that this combination works
out great! The story is about a just fallen in loved couple, Mickey and Mallory - played
by Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis.
-->
Mallory is abused by her father so Mickey and Mal decsides to kill both her father and
mother(!) The couple now gets on the run together thrue the States, killing people. For
what reason we donīt know yet, maybe just their killing instingt woke up when they killed
Malīs parents.
Anyway, they start killing people in every little town they drives thrue, cops or just
usual folks. The part that is "funny" here is that the killers always let one
person live so they can "tell the story about Mickey and Mal".
Now roumors about the two massmurders starts to spread around the U.S.A.
TV is speculating what drives this couple to their sinds but they also starts to glorifie
the insainitie. Mick and Mal are almost being reffered to National Heroes because they are
so "cool". At the same time a cop, called Jack Scagnetti (Tom Sizemore), starts
trying to find and stop the villians. Scagnetti turns out to be as insane like Mick and
Mal, he likes to assualt young prostitutes and then kill them(!?)...
After some time and 52 dead people Mick and Mal finally get caught by the cruel Jack
Scagnetti.
Mick and Mal goes to prison. The prison is run by a totaly hysteric and insane person
played by Tommy Lee Jones...
The muderers will soon be treated with their death charge but first Mickey are going
to be interviewed by a australian reporter (who is very funny), played by Robert Downey
JR. Now follows the all together best scene in the whole film! Mickeys speech, that goes
out live thrue the whole U.S.A, really explaines how a mass murderer really thinks (maybe
anway). He says that it lies in the human nature to kill people and there is no problem at
all to do it.
When this interview is happening the whole prison turns into a
riot...Shortly said: Mick and Mal manage to escape and well, the end is kind of
sentimental.
The film is fantastic, the script by QT and the screenplay by Stone mixed
together just canīt be missed!
Stone makes this film into a visual firework, where colored and black/white footage with
animation is mixed together...
The film has been criticized by the media for being to violent, but
what really the film comes all down to is that it critizes the media and the public itself
for glorifying violence! For example the whole O.J. Simpsons affaire.
The acting is one of the best you can find in a Tarantino movie. Woody Harrelson and Tommy Lee Jones makes the film one of the best action movies there is to find! (excluding Pulp and Reservoir Dogs)
