This space was created 1998-07-04. I put some stuff here because the 10 MB space came free with the ISP package There will be something of everything here, mostly linux and some hacking stuff. Yes i love to hack all kind of things, figuring out how things work is my drive here in life. I never hacked what you would call a system but i sure would like to. If i manage.

Linux and the beginning.

I am a user of Linux since 1996 and i like the OS a lot, not because it's free or very fast, the main reason is - it works and it's stable. I've been a user of both Macintosh, DOS and Windows 3.1/95/NT. Then of course, Linux is also Unix,  thousands of apps are out there for you to use.

The current distribution i use is Suse 5.2 kernel 2.0.34, i started out with RedHat 3.03 which came with a book i bought from the local book store. I was never able to get X windows to work with that RedHat distribution since my graphics card was not supported back then. Now i have blasting fast Xwindows working with my new Rive128 card, thanks to SUSE for developing those Xservers.

Anything above Pentium100, 16 MB and a decent graphics card will do if you want to run Xwindows. If you choose not to run Xwindows you can do with an old 486 with 4-8 Mbyte. Depending on what packages you want to install i would recommend a harddrive larger than 100 Mbyte. My 266 Pentium just flies, and i filled 1.8 Gig of that 4Gb Quantum i have already. Thats a big system of course, with lots of stuff i don't even use.
