My name is Per Uhlén and I am PhD student at
Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden.
The name of my supervisor is
Dr. Hjalmar Brismar. In March of 1998
I received my Master of Science in Physics from
The Royal Institute of Technology.
My diploma work was to build a
3D TOFPET
system, which I did together with my fellow-student Mikael Steén.
Research
My research concerns development of different methods for
fluorescence microscopy in cell biology.
I am currently developing a ratiometric
system for intracellular measurements. I am also involved in a research
project, together with Oleg Aizman M.D., were we are studying the regulation
of the sodium pump in neuronal cells from 18 days
old rat embryos. Our interest is the effect of different neurotransmitters
and hormones, such as dopamine and NMDA receptor agonists, on intracellular
sodium homeostasis.
