Initial Internet Tasks


Your task today will be to explore

the English Department's Home Page as much as possible.


There are a few basic tasks I will ask you to do. The best way to solve these tasks is to follow suitable links from the homepage. Summarize your findings and e-mail a document to me (jali@tibble.taby.se) at the end of today's class in which you tell me what you have done.

You do not have to solve the tasks below in any particular order.

  1. Find a daily newspaper in English and summarize an article from it. Tell me why you chose it.

  2. Take down five new words that you have found whilst surfing.These words should be words you wish to add to your active vocabulary. Look them up in on -line dictionaries and thesauruses.

  3. Find a 19th century poem and read it. Tell me what poem you chose and what you thought of it.

  4. Find reviews about a film currently showing in Stockholm.

  5. Discuss: What is good about working with the internet? Why? What is not so good? Why?

  6. Finally, what is your evaluation of the Department's Home Page?

    If you have time, I would appreciate if you would give me the addresses to your favourite sites.
