Eyes of Baudanath

The Kali Gendaki

pic2.jpg (2287 bytes) This river is located in the western part of   Nepal believed tobe the holy River of the deathgodess Kali herself. It's a beutiful river, flowing through a pristine landscape, (most of the villages along the river are not acessible by road at all), alternating between long stretches of calm waters and raging rapids! If you want to do some whitewater rafting, and you don't have that much experience doing that,  this is a good place to do it.

The startoff point is Pokhara, second largest city of  Nepal. Here you will find numerous companies arranging rafting trips, you can also arrange the whole thing in Kathmandu since most companies have branches in both cities - It might be a good idea to book a week or two in advance, at least in october/november. Most companies arrange a five day trip down the river, (there is also shorter trip beetwen 2 and 3 days) and the price varies between 65 and 200 USD depending on wich company you choose. There are the cheaper Nepalese companies at the lower end of the price range, and the more expensive New Zeeland companies at the upper end.
