SaverAid for Windows 95 ----------------------- * Are you running Windows 95? * Are you running Windows 95 screen saver? * Do you sometimes need to activate screen saver immediately or to prevent screen saver to kick in for a while? If your answers to all above three questions are yes. SaverAid is for you! ========================================================================== SaverAid is a small utility for Windows 95. The task of SaverAid is simple: it allows you to activate screen saver or disable screen saver with a single mouse click away. Unlike some other utilities which require you to place and "KEEP" your mouse pointer to particular location on the screen, SaverAid does the job differently so you don't need to worry of moving the mouse. After running, the program places a small icon in Windows 95 taskbar notification area (where Windows 95 clock is displayed). When clicking the icon with your right mouse button, a popup menu will show up. Select "saver active" will disable or enable the screen saver. The program will place a check mark aside the menu item as well as change the icon being displayed. ** before running SaverAid, make sure that you have selected a valid Windows 95 ** screen saver module (from your desktop screen, right click and select ** "properties" -> "Screen Saver"). Installation This is a small program (36Kb) so that I did not write a setup program. Here is the instruction for manually installing SaverAid. ** Unzip the compressed file first in a directory you prefer ** ** Following examples assuming you put saveraid.exe in a ** ** directory called "utility on drive C. ** (If you know Windows 95 well, all you need to do is to place a shortcut of saveraid.exe in the directory of "Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Startup"). 1. Launch MS Explorer from "Start" menu; 2. Double click "Windows" directory, then "Start Menu", then "Programs", then "Startup". 3. You now should have "Windows/Start menu/Programs/Startup/" folder open, from MS Explorer menu, select "File|New|Shortcut". Windows 95 will display a "Create shortcut" dialog box to ask for the name and path of the program. You can simply type in " c:\utility\saveraid.exe". Alternatively, you can click the browse button to find "saveraid.exe". 4. Restart Windows 95. -------------------------------------------------------------------- This program is provided AS IS without any warranty.
