Display speed in a graph when you bike, and log the trip in its memory.
Export the log into your PC (hot sync it) and analyze your training
data in your favorite spreadsheet program.

while you're cycling.

Show: Odometer, Trip Time (Tm), Current Speed (Spd), Average Speed (Avs),
Trip Distance (Dst), Time (Clk), Estimated Time of Arrival (Eta).

Get a complete log of your training, get a time stamp of every wheel turn

What do you need?

A Palm Pilot PDA, I use a Palm III, Palm Pilot Professional and a Pilot
5000

The Bikini software: The Bikini to have in your Palm Pilot, and an additional
conduit
(so you can hot sync your training data into your PC), Download a tryout

A Hot sync or Modem Cable. (you can use the standard cradle, but it is
not so practical on the bike)

A sensor that detects the turning wheel, you can use a burglar alarm sensor,
or use a sensor for a CatEye or Sigma bike computer.
The sensor has to be connected to your Palmpilot using an adapter
cable to connect to your Palm Pilot through a modem cable.
