This 1916 recording offers a lighter Turridu than usual but is otherwise of primarily historical interest.

Of all the La Scala recordings, this is the least satisfying to me. Dating from 1929, it should have fine sound, but the copy I had - though little played - was overly strident and distorted. Perhaps a part of the reason is that this is the only one of the series engineered by one C. C. Blyton; the earlier ones had been done by F. W. Gaisberg. Neither the conducting nor the singing has much to recommend it. Nevertheless, it is thrown on here for completeness and in the hope that someone will hear virtues in the performance that I do not.
