Cyrene (Kyrene)

The daughter of the naiad Creusa and the mortal Hypseus, king of the Lapiths. The god Apollo fell in love with her and took her to Africa, where he built her a city (called Cyrene, on the coast of North Africa). The region Cyrenaica is also named after her. Aristaeus is her son by Apollo.
