Brunhilde (Brunhilt)

A heroine from the German epics, especially in the Nibelungen saga, in which she is a Icelandic princess. She was a heroic woman, regarded as being invincible, but difficult to come close to. This changed when the hero Siegfried successfully wooed her for his brother-in-law Gunther.
