weightwing ratio on time

Fig. 3. Weight : wing ratio versus time in 210 juvenile Cormorants, Eskilstorps holmar, June 2004; scale to the left, overall regression drawn. Time 1 = 1 June. Mean values of wing-length shown with red dots for each single date, standard deviations 45 - 47 mm; scale to the right.

weightwing ratio on time

Fig. 4. Weight : wing ratio versus time in 290 juvenile Cormorants, Eskilstorps holmar, May - July 2005; scale to the left, overall regression drawn. Time 1 = 1 June. Mean values of wing-length shown with red dots for each single date, standard deviations 40 - 50 mm; scale to the right. The point marked with a red ring refers to a bird weighing 1.7 kg with wing 275 mm on 26 June, it was found dying at Beddingestrand, 35 km ESE, on 12 August 2005, by then weighing 1.2 kg. Jan-Åke Hillarp at the Rehabilitation Centre of Skanör states the cause of death as "probably 'seabird disease'".

weight growth rate on original weight-2004

Fig. 5. 3rd root of [weight at ringing + daily rate of weight increase] against third root of weight at ringing in 26 juvenile Cormorants, Eskilstorps holmar, June 2004. Equation of the line: (Wd+11/3 = 1.027 + 0.923 Wd1/3; s = 0.065, Radj2 = 99.4 %, intersection with y = x: W1/3 = 13.3205, equivalent to an asymptotic weight = 2364 g. Rationale of the figure from the Bertalanffy equation, see text.

weight growth rate on original weight-2005

Fig. 6. 3rd root of [weight at ringing + daily rate of weight increase] against third root of weight at ringing in 33 juvenile Cormorants, Eskilstorps holmar, June - July 2005. Equation of the line: (Wd+11/3 = 1.336 + 0.899 Wd1/3; s = 0.065, Radj2 = 99.3 %, intersection with y = x: W1/3 = 13.2011, equivalent to an asymptotic weight = 2301 g. Rationale of the figure from the Bertalanffy equation, see text.
