CU Amiga closure rant: August 14, 1998

You have no idea of how tired I am of all those little something bad has happend - I'm leaving the Amiga for a PC creatures that seems to jump out of peoples bodies like some bad sequel to Alien all the time! Sure it won't do retailers like Weird Science and Epic Marketing much good to see their CU ads vanish, but it does save them some money. Money they can use for improving their service towards the end-users, i.e. us. However, in order to make this work it is important that we give the remaining publications our support. If you are buying magazines one at a time start subscribing instead. It's more important to promise the magazine(s) your support then to buy the odd number that you escpecially like. Nobody will gain anything from irregular sellings, but all of us will from regular ones. So instead of buying a IBM-compatible (Yes, that is it's name although people tends to forget about it.) subscribe to that magazine you've always wanted to read. And for the lost CU sheep I can only say Amiga Format. Now, don't start a riot but give it a chance. I know I will. Oh, a friend of mine had this to say about CU's closure: "I know Andrew Korn well and, if he has anything to do with it, there is a good chance that CU will appear again in some form once there is a good change of profitability. Perhaps wishful thinking, but not if I know Andy." Who the friend is? Chris Page of Explorer 2260 fame. You haven't seen him leave the Amiga, have you?
