| Killer Quake 2.20 |

|
Killer Quake is a collection of several Quake modification combined into a single, large mod. With over 35 different weapons, two bots and several features such as fake backpacks, portable teleporters, sheilds, radar, and even air strikes, this must be one of the most feature-packed Quake mod I ever played! Killer Quake is primarily meant for deathmatch play and thus two deathmatch levels have been included, BaseWalk and Triumph. Both have been reviewed and praised earlier by MNN. Due to the sheer size of KillerQuake, it is impossible to describe all the features in detail in this review, but I will nevertheless bring up a few of them.

First out is the Blazethrower which can be compared to a flamethrower. However, the flames aren't ugly bitmaps as in Genetic Species and other mediocre games, but rather 3D modelled. Take a look at that burning Ogre for a more visual demonstration. Next we have the guided missile that is fired from the Rocket Launcher. Once fired, the player "becomes" the fired missile and can guide it to its target. Then we have the Mini-Cannon that can fire throw walls (!), the Vampire Axe that can be used to steal health from your foes, and finally the bow firering poisoned arrows. On the bot side, both the Zeus and Cujo bots have been included, although I would recommend using them as seperate mods since those are more up to date.

| To this end Killer Quake might seem flawless, but I must say that I sometimes find it a litte too comprehensive. Some weapons feel a bit unbalanced, like the two nukes, and some are plain ridiculous, like the exploding barrel. Still, there are plenty of things that make it worth downloading Killer Quake. If you weren't to enjoy Killer Quake, then at least download PakMan and extract those two superb deathmatch levels. |
