WORLD HERITAGE

IN TANUM

DURING 1997 YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT THE FAMOUS ROCK CARVINGS IN TANUM ACCOMPANIED BY PROFESSIONAL ARCHAEOLOGISTS. CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING LIST OF TOURS:

* The magnificent VITLYCKE ROCK with its surroundings and the reconstructed Bronze Age farm.

* ASPEBERGET. A walk around Aspeberget with its multitude of rock panels and images.

* FOSSUM. A very artistic and well-composed rock carving.

* TORSBO (Kville). Though not situated in the world heritage area this site is well worth visiting. Here you discover, among many other images, Sweden´s longest rock carving ship (4,5 m !) in a scenic surrounding.

* GREBY GRAVFÄLT (Grebbestad). A very beautiful Iron Age burial ground with standing stones and more than 200 grave mounds. Included in the tour is a visit to a nearby rock carving.

* NIGHT EXCURSIONS. See the rock carvings come alive in the torchlight. During daytime carvings that are not painted could be very difficult to discover but here you can see them rise from the rock. A different and exciting experience. We visit places like Aspeberget, Kalleby, Kasen-Lövåsen, Smörsten/Bro Utmark.

* There is also a possibility to arrange longer excursions, 3-6 hours, to various prehistoric sites in northern Bohuslän.
