PLOT: The Enterprise is escorting a Federation ambassador to a planet called Eminiar 7 to discuss the planets entry into the federation. When Kirk´s landing party beams down they recieve news that they have been declared dead in a war and are to be executed. It seems the planet are at war with a neighbouring planet, even though both planets show not the slightest sign that usually comes with war. Instead they fight through a complex computer program wich calculates the casualties on each side and it´s up to each planet to execute the "casualties".

PERSONAL THOUGHTS: Overall it´s a good mix of action, morale and good solid acting. However, I have a hard time trying to cope with Kirk´s refusal to understand the people of Eminiar and not telling them his point of view until the end.

PLOT: While tracking an unexplainable outbreak of insanity on several planets Enterprise sees a smaller vessel from the planet Deneva dive into the sun. This confirms Kirk´s fear that the outbreak has reached Deneva. They beam down to the surface only to find the people infected and some of them already dead, among them Kirk´s brother. They soon trace the illness to thousands of small one-cell organisms that seem to be unaffected even by phasers. When Spock gets infected the race to find something to kill the creatures begins.

PERSONAL THOUGHTS: Shatner´s performance is very pale. For instance, I would have expected a bigger reaction from him when he found his only (?) brother dead. Nimoy on the other hand delivers one of his best performances. I just wonder how the infected humans down on the planet, and Spock for that matter, can stay unharmed when the organisms burn and dissolve when exposed to the light.

Season 2

#30 - Amok time

#31 - Who mourns for Adonis

#32 - The Changeling

#33 - Mirror, mirror

Rating: 4 out of 5

Writer: Jerome Bixby

Director: Marc Daniels

Stardate: Not given

PLOT: During a beam-up the transporter signal gets screwed up and Kirk, McCoy, Scotty & Uhura re-appears with different clothes. But that is not all. The Enterprise crew seem savage, brutal and worst of all... Spock has a beard ! ! ! After some quick thinking they realize that they somehow must have been transported to another universe. A universe where the Federation is an evil empire and where people go up in rank by assassinating a higher ranking officer. When Kirk refuses to destroy a planet that won´t cooperate Spock gets an order to kill him. So now Kirk & co must hurry to find a way to get back to their own universe before Spock gets to them.

PERSONAL THOUGHTS: Intriguing story and good acting from the cast makes this entertaining and one of the best episodes ever. At least as far as TOS-episodes go.
