Revenge

Released 1992. Sold Gold. Peaked at #6 and stayed 23 weeks on the chart.

Unholy This great album kicks off with a very angry-sounding Gene Simmons. This sets the course for this record. Raw sounding guitars, real heavy drumming from Eric (Singer) and killer vocals from The Demon. A great start and a great song. Maybe Geneīs best...
Take it off My n:o 1 favourite song off this album. And of course itīs done by Paul. Itīs that sexy catchy riff song again. The ones that Paul does so well. A great part in the end when they all sing a-capella which only enhances this experience.
Tough love Groovy! Paul again. This one swings but is maybe the weakest track. The song never really grabs hold of you and it takes a while before you get into it. Still, the guitar sound is great!
Spit Oh, this one is great! Written by both Simmons and Stanley and they share the vocals. Really sexy with a killer, jamming chorus. Lotīs of speed mixed with more groovy parts. Another proof that they should try to write more together. Awesome solo from Bruce.
God gave rock 'n' roll to you II A cover and but lyrics to this could just as easily been written by Stanley and Simmons. This was a big hit in Europe and itīs what got the media talking about a come-back for Kiss. (Ridiculous since they have been around the whole time). A nice catchy tune with solid guitars and drumming. Paul is making his declaration of rock and roll at the end of the song.
Domino This one is sooo cool! A bit more layed-back than the rest, and itīs just right for this one. Geneīs voice is cool, the guitars are right on the note, the lyrics are funny and Bruceīs solo is smoking. You canīt really ask for more in a song.
Heart of chrome Another one by Paul. The song is ok up until the chorus which is brilliant. Itīs filled with power and force. Paulīs singing is just excellent. There is a lot of energy going through a song like this.
Thou shalt not Another angry one by Gene. The heavy and dark guitars and Geneīs screaming makes this tolerable. Not a favorite in my book and the worst along with Tough love and Paralyzed. Good solo though.
Every time I look at you A true power ballad and naturally itīs from Paul. Co-written with producer Bob Ezrin who he also wrote "I finally found..." with. But this is so much better. A lot of accoustic guitars and violins. Itīs not the best ballad heīs done but itīs enough to please me.
Paralyzed The third worst song. (Well, they arenīt that bad but they are not that good either). It kicks off great with a kind of guitar jam. What I like about this is the heavy metal sound. This is by far the heaviest songand that is actually what saves it. Written by Gene!
I just wanna Paul Stanley. This is a song that is pure rockīn roll. Itīs got some "hit"-feeling to it and good lyrics. It took me a while before I knew that he didnīt say the 'F'-word. A good slow part at the and with the four of them. Otherwise this is Paul Stanley show.
Carr Jam 1981 Eric Carr died shortly before this record so they decided to put something on it to remember him. They found this drum solo. Well, itīs nothing for me and I even think that Peterīs solo on the Psycho Circus-tour was better. So surely Eric must have done better than this. At least he shows how heavy he is.

KISS lost their musical edge during the late eighties and this record proved to be the turning point. Sadly enough Eric Carr died before it was completed and couldnīt be there to see it. Anyway, Revenge showed a re-newed and hungry KISS with dark sound and heavy guitars. It was clear that KISS had found itīs direction again, too bad we couldnīt enjoy it more now that the originals are back. Still, get this, cause itīs the best thing theyīve done during the 90īs.
