King of the mountain A kick-ass opener.Great drumming here from Eric Carr. Fast-paced and with a good solo from Bruce. Easily the best track on this record.
Any way you slice it Written and sung by Gene. Another fast-paced rock-tune. Nothing more to say about it really. Itīs an OK song. Geneīs rap is worth mentioning though. And I thought he hated rap music! ;-)
Who wants to be lonely A typical mid-eighties-Paul-Stanley-ballad. Good singing from Paul but the whole guitarsound on this record doesnīt make songs like this as good as they could be. The soloīs excellent though. Stabs me right in the heart every time!
Trial by fire The second Gene-song, co-written with Bruce. This one is a bit slower than the previous and just have a boring overall feeling to it. Geneīs singing saves a lot, though.
Iīm alive Another one from Paul/Bruce. If the others were fast-paced this one really breaks a speedlimit or two. Wild guitarplay in the beginning. Funny lyrics and a really strong chorus makes this one of the best of the record. Another solid drumming performance by Eric!
Loveīs a deadly weapon The first song that really doesnīt make it for me in any way. This is just speeding without feeling! And I fail to see what parts of the song Paul wrote!
Tears are falling Ok, so I have a soft spot for Pauls ballads, but this one is really something special. With a different production it could have been even better. A concert favourite for a short period. I always turn this one up when I feel sad, and it always makes me feel sadder. A really nice solo that works perfectly with the rest of the song.
Secretly cruel This oneīs all about sex! I remember Gene saying somewhere that this one was based on experience. Well, unfortunately I donīt think this song is as good as Geneīs research for it was! This one is kind of boring too. You can tell that his mind must have been somewhere else during the latter half of the 80īs. Overall itīs only Pauls songs that are cutting it.
Radar for love You hear straight from the beginning that this oneīs got that sexy rythm. Good singing from Paul. Kind of boring chorus but overall itīs sexy, powerful and has the right feeling.
UH! All night The second best song off this album. This is an old-style anthem from Paul. Itīs bold and catchy. The lyrics are just along my line of thought. Good heavy drumming from Eric and a perfect ending for this record that leaves you hungry for more.

The only thing that was really wrong with this record was the production. Kerrang said something about all songs being about sex, and if they werenīt it sure sounded like it. I can do nothing but agree. Musically itīs hard rock at itīs best and the songs, with a few exceptions, kick ass! This was actually my first KISS record. So this is where I began my way towards being the big fan I am. I donīt recommend anyone else to start with this because it sounds like nothing else in their entire catalog, but if you want some raw pounding rockīn roll, this is one to get!
