Finally! This is what I have been waiting for a long time. There is a Adore tour documentary being produced. This is taken from the official site: "this fall the smashing pumpkins are set to release an as yet untitled documentary shot during the entire course of their groundbreaking adore tour. filmed over roughly 5 months of rehearsing, recording, and touring around the world, this will be the pumpkins first home video release since vieuphoria in 1994. the video will be directed by jesse ignjatovic, a producer for mtv who took a leave of absence to travel with the band. covering may to september of 1998, the adore tour saw the pumpkins playing in european amusement parks, botanical gardens, ports of call, and even parking garages. also featured will be the unprecedented american charity tour, that covered 14 cities and raised over 2.7 million dollars."
Over at http://pumpkins.intratech.org/ you can download high quality MP3's from the arising tour. I can REALLY recommend Ava Adore and Dross (new song) from the Pittsburgh show.
I just found out about this site: http://www.thesmashingpumpkins.com/. It seems to be the new official pumpkin site, hopefully we will find the latest news/info over there.
D'arcy and Billy will appear on two (separate) songs when Cheap Trick releases their new live album soon.
The pumpkins are planning to show the first concert live on the web, you can find more info on this at SPIFC as information becomes available.
The Smashing Pumpkins will play several dates in the US. There's a big chance we will get to hear new material and it's almost certain that Jimmy will be drumming for them. 10th April 99 St. Andrew's Detroit, MI

Peter Jeffrey, 45, is suing the members of the alternative rock band, the city of New Haven and the New Haven Coliseum, where the concert took place in January 1997. Also named in the suit, filed in New Haven Superior Court, are the bands Fountains of Wayne and the Frogs, as well as earplug maker Siebe North Inc., lawyer Anthony Wallace told Reuters. Jeffrey, who lives in Guilford, Connecticut, hopes his suit will make young people more aware of the dangers of loud music, Wallace said. Read more about it here and also here.

A representative from Virgin Records confirmed the long-rumored reunion to MTV News adding that Chamberlin and the rest of the Pumpkins are currently in a Chicago studio working on a new album together. The prodigal drummer hasn't recorded with the band since the B-side sessions for 1995's "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" -- tracks which turned up on the following year's "The Aeroplane Flies High" collection. Chamberlain was arrested for heroin possession following the death of Melvoin in July of 1996 and was subsequently fired from the Pumpkins. He pled guilty to disorderly conduct in a plea bargain that was based on him staying in a rehabilitation center five months. He received day passes late that year and recorded with The Last Hard Men, a band put together by Kelley Deal of the Breeders with Skid Row Singer Sebastian Bach, and Frogs keyboardist and long-time Pumpkins cohort Jimmy Flemion. The group's album was never released, however, although a single was featured on the soundtrack to the movie "Scream." Chamberlin then left for an extended vacation in Africa following his release from rehab, but the drummer was noticeably absent the following year when the Last Hard Men recorded a Rod Stewart tribute track in Chicago at the home studio belonging to Pumpkins' bassist D'Arcy. At that point it was revealed that Chamberlin had not spoken to his former bandmates since his dismissal, although he had been keeping in close contact with the group's tour manager. Chamberlin subsequently quit music and reportedly spent the majority of his time following his second love, autosports. Chamberlin told the Chicago Tribune last year that he did not expect to rejoin the band. "There's a lot of water under the bridge," he said at the time. "We're not the type of band that would do a reunion just for the financial ramifications." The Pumpkins have employed a rotating cast on the drumkit since Chamberlain's dismissal (see "Pumpkins Can Drummer"), including Matt Walker, Matt Cameron, Joey Waronker and Kenny Aronoff -- both on tour and on the group's last record, "Adore." The reunited band will take a few days this week, as frontman Billy Corgan has announced that he will attend this year's Grammy Awards on Wednesday night, as the Pumpkins have been nominated for Best Alternative Music Performance for its recent album. This info was taken from MTV.

The incident occurred when Chamberlin was using heroin with Melvoin, the band's touring keyboardist, at a New York hotel. Both passed out, and when the drummer awoke he was unable to rouse Melvoin. Paramedics were called but were unable to revive the musician. Chamberlin was arrested the day after Melvoin's death and charged with misdemeanor drug possession. He entered a drug rehab program immediately and later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct, with jail time waived in exchange for his completion of treatment. The death, which followed the drug-related deaths of Kurt Cobain and Blind Melon singer Shannon Hoon and the high-profile drug problems of Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland, stimulated calls in the music business for policies and programs to stem drug use. This article is taken from LA Times.
If you would believe the rumors circulating on the internet, Jimmy is back in the band. The sources of these "rumors" are a couple radiostations in the states and a few very reliable people close to the band that posts to usenet and message-boards etc.
Sources close to the Smashing Pumpkins reveal that the band is close to rehiring Jimmy Chamberlin, the drummer they let go back in 1996 in the wake of touring keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin's death from a heroin overdose; Chamberlin had been with Melvoin on that fateful night and was battling his own drug problems. Since that time, the Pumpkins engaged former Filter drummer Matt Walker as their touring skinsman in support of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, but he left after forming his own band, Cupcakes. The Chicago supergroup then held open auditions and settled on Beck drummer Joey Waronker, only to have him turn down the job at the eleventh hour. They hired seasoned John Mellencamp drummer Kenny Aronoff for their Adore tour, claiming that they planned never to hire a permanent percussionist. In the midst of all this, they split from their management company, Q-Prime, two months ago. Sales of Adore were disappointing, and the move was perceived in some quarters to be a stab at reinvention. Now, it seems that the band is ready to take another step in their resurrection by asking a cleaned-up Chamberlin back into the fold. Virgin Records had no comment, and Pumpkins lawyer Jill Berliner didn't return calls, but sentiment is high for Chamberlin's return. "As long as he is functional, they're much better with Jimmy. He's a great drummer, he's the closet thing to Keith Moon, and anyone can see what's happened to their career since he's been gone," said one industry observer. At one time Chamberlin was part of the Kelley Deal, Sebastian Bach, Jimmy Flemion group-therapy experiment Last Hard Men, but is currently not in a band and is reportedly living in Florida. His last public appearance was on ESPN for a segment on auto racing. A source close to the band says the Pumpkins will be entering a studio next week to commence recording the next album with famed producer Flood. Stay tuned for developments . . .
Billy Corgan will be guest-starring on a new hard rock CD soon. Billy recently completed the guitar work on a song for an area Chicago band named Enuff Z'Nuff. The song, a Cheap Trick cover, is called "Everything Works If You Let It" and will debut on Enuff Z'nuff's "Paraphernalia" CD through Mayhem Records, due out in March. Enuff Z'Nuff's a talented band that has been on the scene for nearly a decade and they are greatful for Billy's contribution to help them get noticed. Other noteworthy guest appearances on the CD include Rick Neilson (Cheap Trick) on three songs and James Young (Styx) on two. All three are *confirmed* to be on the Paraphernalia CD due out in early March.
The Starlight Children's Foundation was founded in 1983 by actress

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the pumpkins will begin recording their next album soon. Here's a quote from the magazine: "At a time when bands like the Beastie Boys and Hole take four years to make new records, the Smashing Pumpkins aren't wasting a day; they're set to enter the studio before the end of the year to record the follow-up to June's Adore."
A double live CD is rumored, it would be called "An Evening with The Smashing Pumpkins" and released November 17th.
The pumpkins are opening for KISS on the 31st Oct. at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale Sept. 26th.
The video has already been released and you can catch it on MTV. If you haven't seen it, the video is the "sequel" to the 1979 video. James Iha plays the clerk in this video too and he's hilarious :-). The video is once again directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Farris.
