I saw Iggy Pop twice in 1996. First at the Hultsfred Festival in June and a few weeks later i Stockholm at the Water Festival. Both concerts were outdoors and really excellent rock concerts. The concerts weren't similar at all. At the Hultsfred concert the band sounded really raw and it was all Stooges rock'n'roll. The Stockholm concert sounded more like Lust For Life, beautiful and pulsating. "Nightclubbing" was a really something! Right before the Stockholm concert on the waterfront there was a half-an-hour long fireworks, the world championships were going on. I heard later that Iggy and his band were standing on the beach behind the stage watching the fireworks. The younger guys in the band were smoking cigarettes and drinking beer while Iggy admired the glowing and exploding sky. He was going all the time: "Wow!" "F*ck!" and was getting really excited. When the fireworks stopped he yelled to the band: "Well, c'mon! Lets go and play some rock'n'roll!!!" and ran up the stairs and to the stage. The guys dropped their beer bottles and cigarettes and ran after the 49-year old energy package. Iggy was already yelling "1-2-3-4" in the microphone before the rest of the band had reached their instruments, the lights weren't even on yet. I wish I had that kind of energy when I get older. He doesn't seem to get tired at all, even after an hour or longer on stage. He just keeps exploding like the fireworks. In Stockholm he liked swimming on the audience so much that he sang three songs from the sea of people. He did everything. And a bit more. But he didn't drop his pants this time. Thank God.
[guestbook] Attention! The guestbook is not a Iggy Pop-guestbook. It contains the whole site, The Soul Preachers Official Home Page and LIVE PIX. Mr. James Osterberg won't be reading your messages.
