SYLEENA JOHNSON:
Ain´t No Love/You Got Me Spinning
(Jive Records 12")

With a touch of Seventies soul music in the arrangements and beautiful vocals from miss Johnson and these two songs serve as a tasty cut from the forthcoming album.

Syleena Johnson is the daughter of Memphis soul legend Syl Johnson. You you might remember him from Deep Sensation´s splendid Somehow, Somewhere (There is a soul heaven) from 1998 which were built on a loop from Syl´s Is It Because I´m Black

Nevertheless, regardless of her family ties, this is quality Soul music in its own right and should not be missed. File under Essential listening.

ATTICA BLUES:
What Do You Want?
(Columbia Records 12")

Deep, moody and sultry with a vibe of tomorrow´s sound and the bass is a song. Attica Blues is back with a gem of contemporary soul that is causing mayhem on the dance floor every time it´s dropped. Remixes by King Britt and Exemen (a.k.a Wookie).

RECLOOSE :
Cant´t Take It/Absence Of One
(Planet E Records 12")

Amazingly good electro/funk/jazz/house jam with sweet vocals by Dwele on top of it all. Strange at first hearing and fascinating second time around. A huge b-line, some nice scratch breaks and the soulful vocals makes this sounding like soul music for the future. It gets better for every listening.

SPILLER:
Groovejet (Original mix, Spiller vocal mix and Solar mix)
(Positiva Records 12")

This is so cheesy, so utterly trivial, and yet so irresistible wonderful when it is causing damage in the clubs. The vocal mix is most effective, make no mistake - this is serious foot music.

BAHAMADIA:
BB Queen
(Good Vibe Recordings")

A mini album from Bahamadia. Check the party groover Special Forces with Planet Asia, Rasco, Chops & DJ Revolution. Or the relentless Philadelphia. This is one of the best hip hop releases so far this year, way ahead of any other act.

CAJMERE feat Dajae:
Who Done It
(White 12")

Outstanding Garage jam with Dajae´s divine voice.

SHIRLEY BASSEY:
Light My Fire
(EMI Records 12")

Kenny Dope's remix of Shirley Bassey´s powerful cover version of the Door´s Light My Fire The music is like a true adventure: full of promises, exotic places, mysterious strangers and a beautiful woman. Sure to be caned by the discerning dance floors. Phat!
