After his surrender to the Captain of HMS Bellerophon, Napoleon Bonaparte
was transferred to HMS Northumberland (a ship of 74 guns). The Northumberland
bought Napoleon to his exile in St Helena on 15 October 1815. This ship
already had a distinguished record under the command of Lord Nelson.
