| As long as I can remember
I have loved
dramatic musical expression. When I was 8, I heard "No more Mr Nice
Guy" with Alice Cooper for the first time, and felt: "Wow - this is
it!".
Two years later, Alice came to Gröna Lund, the big amusement park in
Stockholm.
I was there. Somehow I had managed to get my sister and my poor
father to accompany me. Leaving them behind, I successfully squiggled
my
way to the stage in order to both see and hear this major rock drama
diva. I
was never a rebel, just a very determined young lady. Years went by, I have become older - but still love, yes surely love! - the great expressions and emotions that really good musical drama have. For my part, rock never seemed like an option. I put it on the account of "my own insecurity and shyness". In retrospect, as an opera singer, I think it was not only about this. It was probably quite clever to not even try. How many female rock singers can you name, and how many male? (Maybe the rebellious rock industry is one of the last major outposts for the inequality between the sexes?) At the Opera, however, the women are often strong. They are even so strong that they do not fit into a society which demands their submission. In Opera, their destiny is highlighted, here they will be heard ... |

| Aida,
slave and
princess, some role of conflict, Tosca kills, rather than she betrays
her lover and style of life. And so she has to die. The list
goes on ... To
interpret these women is a fantastic physical and emotional
catharsis, I
promise! And a challenge, a constant challenge and call to ask myself new questions as what drove and drives me on. Hard sometimes, yes, but an elixir of life. The singing profession is a "game for life" .... It is one of my greatest joys. Somewhere to be someone else, and sometimes even more, than myself, at times something of a burden to carry, but always something I could hardly live without. Ok, it's not my whole life... that would not be complete at all without my family and friends! But going to work, doing what I love the most, is something I am tremendously proud and grateful to do. Now, I wish you enjoy my website, more audio to come ... Ingela |
