The listed entries are reproductions of (parts of) a few pages from The Central Nervous System, Structure and Function, 2nd ed 1998 by Per Brodal, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo.
The illustrations are neater in the original and the text in some of them has been enlarged. The reason for placing this material on the web is that we feel there is a need to communicate these long-known basic facts about the way we're all designed. And for that purpose some of the illustrations in Brodal's book seem to constitute a suitable quick reference. See in particular 241, 343 and 361 below.
In order to gain any deepened knowledge the reader better resort to the full text.
