On 10/18 at 11:46, the space shuttle Atlantis landed at Kennedy Space Center. It was the 60:th landing here. We weren’t allowed to get very close, maybe two miles or so. Before we got to see the shuttle, two loud bangs were heard, when the shuttle entered the Earth’s atmosphere. On the picture below, the shuttle is seen on the right, next to the (huge) Vehicle Assembly Building. In this building, the shuttle is rigged, attached to the Booster Rockets, and raised. After that, a 6,000 ton (!) Crawler transports it out to one of the launch-pads.
