Excursion to the Goshen pass

When the rest of the family is on vacation in Sweden, Mikael amused himself by doing the loop: Lynchburg - Big Island - Buena Vista - Lexington - Goshen - Warm Springs - Hot Springs - Covington - Lexington - Natural Bridge - Glasgow - Lynchburg. It took five hours (without any longer stops).

These signs are all over the place. Much of the ride goes through mountain areas. The highest altitude is about 3,000 feet above sea-level.

About 1.5 hours from Lynchburg lies the Goshen pass, through which the Maury River runs. We swim here in the summertime. It is quite exciting since you swim with snakes. Usually, harmless Black Snakes.

30 minutes from Goshen, one reaches Warm Springs. It's possible to take a bath here too, in bathhouses. $12 buys one hour in sulfur oozing, crystal-clear, 100º F water. A creek is led in to the houses, one for the women and one for the men. The women get bathing suits and slippers. The men get to bathe naked.

In the middle of nowhere, Homestead appears. It is a hotel in the village of Hot Springs, built in 1902.

Ten minutes from Hot Springs, this waterfall appears. It is actually quite impressive. In the distance, West Virginia.

In Stockholm, Peter finally got to meet his "uncle" Roger. Roger, who used to work at Ericsson in Raleigh, NC, had to move back to Sweden about the same time Peter was born.
