The company was founded 1996 in order to develop an innovative electromechanical nozzle configuration. The idea was to make a print head that could use water-based dispersion ink. At about the time as the first prototype printer was made, a flag manufacturer was looking for a digital inkjet production printer with low resolution and high throughput.
The resolution of the printer was based on the product's appearance at a given viewing distance. That gave a resolution of 20dpi. Today, this is not enough. Most customers buy their flags according to the appearance of the flag at arm's length even if it will be viewed at a distance of 10 to 20 meters. Today the printer is able to print at 80dpi with a speed of 40m²/h. Work has not only been concentrated around the electromechanical nozzle configuration, but also around the system configurations needed to give a 100 % printed through medium. The flag manufacturer still needs a digital inkjet production printer that gives sharp edges and line-free solid areas at high throughput. Texdot AB is a fully owned subsidiary of Q-Matic Sweden AB. The new leadership, CEO Martin Sahlin, R&D manager Urban Albinsson and Q-Matic, enabled Texdot to solve the remaining configuration problems. Texdot was able to place the first truly environmentally friendly digital inkjet production printer on the market. |
