This black dog was bred in Germany and was one of the excellent descendants of Troll v.d. Blankenburg. Ajax was well known for his fiery character, he was sharp and a real fighter but with courage and hardness. These are typical qualities of the Dobermann which are, unfortunately, missing in most of to-day´s Dobermanns. Ajax was a nicely built dog with good presentation. Although on the small side, overall he was a good dog. In my opinion, a working dog must be on the small side. We have to be careful to day not to breed dogs that are too tall. In the show ring you will even see male with a height of 74-76 cm, which is well above the standard and is a serious fault and will damage the working qualities of the dog.
