africamp

We went to this conference in Kampala called Africamp, led by a man named John Mulinde. The first day they wanted to introduce all the different nations that were represented there, so they asked one person from each nation to go and find their flag. Then they called each nation up on stage with their flag. So Matt, Michèle, Benjie, Genevieve, Rick and Elin were up there representing their nations. At the end, people representing the different tribes or areas of Uganda came in and then we all sang a worship song together. It was cool.

Another day of the conference we were asked to participate. We'd just arrived and had discussed what we should do and were just about to pray when Trevor shouted at us to come quickly - and we were on! We did Stomp and the prayer dance.

We spent some time seeking God about what we are supposed to do at the "tree church" we're going to minister at tomorrow. This is what we got:

  • Ask God for specific encouragement (words or Scripture) for people there
  • Exodus 3-4:17, especially 4:11
  • Philippians 2:3
  • "Holy is the Lord", especially "we stand and lift up our hands, for the joy of the Lord is our strength"
Philippians 4:4. Represent the joy of the Lord
  • Garment of praise
  • Ask God for a word for the place or the people before we get there

It felt like this is an important assignment God is giving us, and it's not just another ministry time. We felt that we should go with a readiness since we don't know exactly what we're doing and God will tell us what to say once we get there. Some of us didn't get anything, so...

We also asked God who should speak on Sunday at Namirembe, where we'll be leading a two-hour service with a 30-minute sermon. We got different names but mostly Laura, Matt and Emily (+ Rick and Elin).
