Rumble in the darkness

He slowly slid his ancestor's sword out of its sheath getting ready for the oncoming charge. Most of his life was spent learning the ancients ways so he could fight for his land. He could hear the vile enemy in the distance, even though he could not see them. A strange feeling came over him in the darkness of night, something he had never felt before. He couldn't describe it, maybe it was a temptation by one of the Chaos gods? He felt a soft tremor in the ground coming towards him, the ground beneath his feet began to shake. The tremor became stronger, and at one point he almost fell to the earth. Then his feet started sinking like the sun does every night into the ground. He frantically tried to pull himself out but with each move he fell in more, he got a cold sweat about thinking what was underneath him.

He was part of a defensive line meant to keep invaders out of the Kings Court, he realized that if he didn't get help a hole would be made and his Lord's life would be put in danger. He tried to yell, but nothing came out. He was taken over by terror in his eternal pull to the under-earth. When he finally fell into a tunnel it was almost pitch black, save a faint glow. It was a glowing green rock with a touch of darkness in it. When he picked it up evil cursed through his veins, he threw it away from himself as he thought it must have been a temptation from chaos. The ground began to shake again, he then thought what could have made a tunnel this quickly as from his acute night vision he saw a tunnel stretching in both directions as far as he could see. Oddly, the dirt was still fress, not more then a few moments old. Then the rumbling came back, but it was different this time, much more intense. It felt like a march of troops. Above he heard cries of battle and clashes of iron so no enemy could march above ground. It must be a trap, this is a tunnel for travel, the enemy above must be a decoy! The real force will travel to the heart of the Kingdom underground!

He must warn the others, but how will he get out? The dirt is too soft to climb and the opening is a good four men above him. He started shouting, but it was no use his comrades were too caught up in battle to hear his pleas. Then momentarily the rumbling became even stronger. He frantically tried to climb the walls to warn the others, then the rumbling came to a stop. He heard some orders given in a foreign tongue. Moments later beady yellow eyes crept into his vision. In despiration he tried to climb the walls one more time, but escape was futile as he already knew. The yellow eyes were almost upon him now, he thought about running. Instead an instinct overtook him; with a battle cry that even made Cain himself shudder the mighty Wardancer Strychnine plunged into the skavenous hoard.
