LAPPDALEN 2000, THE LAST JOURNEY

Pain everywhere.

Quite right, this was to become The Last Journey.
You can tell that you are getting older. The body
hurts during and after hardship as this.
Well, we hade nice weather anyway.
We started the paddling 7 pm the 3rd of July.
In dazzling sunshine we crossed through three
creeks and carried the canoes besides three creekes.
But, then came the devlish 500 meter long swamps.
It was hard, too hard... At 5 am we reached our camp.

Newley caught salmon.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we fished from
the canoe. The fishing was good, but not as good
as it was three years earlier. The size of the salmons
was not as big this time. (Our camp was in the end
of this lake, se the photo below.)

Beautiful scenery.

Late on Thursday evening we started the yourney back
to civilisation. We took it easy, fishing and resting
along the lakes and creeks. We sat a new camp after
crossing the devlish swamps.

Resting beside a creek.

Friday morning we woke up by the sound of rain drops.
Here comes the rain again. We crossed the two,
last and largest lakes fighting against rain and wind.
Soaking wet and pain in every muscle we finally
reached the truck. Ah, civilisation!

Christer with newly catched fish.

What about the fishing? Well, Christer and I got
together around 100 salmons. The other two
on the trip, Christers oldest son Oskar and
brother-in-law Mats, catched around 80. It was
their first trip to Lappdalen, and the last I think.
And it was also the last trip for Christer and I.
Next time we will try a fishing water easier
to reach...
