IN the queue to see Titanic - 1st

couple: "Can't wait to see the film,

apparently the sinking is spectacular."

2nd couple: "Thanks for ruining the film."

AMAZING THAILAND 1998-'99 got

underway with two-tier pricing,

overcharging and the Beggars Brigade in

full dress (i.e. tatters). Murphy's Law -

everything that can go wrong, will - is in

evidence throughout the nation. Locals

have many attributes, but logic and

efficiency aren't among them. You are

well-advised that if you want something

done right, do it yourself. Depend on

others and you'll be left in the lurch. Sad

but true.

COSMOS CLUB (Patpong 2), run by

Vinai, is putting on its annual sexotic

show tonight featuring two Dutch lasses -

at 10 p.m. and midnight. No cover charge.

Worth going out of your way for.

KING'S LOVE BOAT (ground floor of

the Bat Boat, Patpong 2) is picking up, not

least because KG has ordered its bar

girls/Go-Go dancers not yet bought out to

converge on the constellation after

business hours. Check it out.

TABASCO CHARLIE'S Disco (third

floor of Nana Entertainment Plaza) should

be opening right about now

BRIAN SULLIVAN, owner of the

Cactus Club (Soi 4, off Silom), will be

back in Bangkok from January

23-February 9, his friends would like to

know.

I am sad to pass on that "Crazy" Jack

Robert Allison passed away in Korat last

Sunday due to a heart attack and

complications (i.e. a diabetic coma). He

was 55, an Ohioan and a veteran. In

accordance with his long-standing wish,

he was cremated in a wat (in Korat) on

Tuesday.

Jack ran the Shadow Bar on Soi Cowboy

for six years before selling it and moving

to Korat several months ago. He was in

the process of opening Korat's first

entertainment complex. Jack is survived

by his wife, Pranom ("Nom"). VFW

(Veterans of Foreign Wars), of which he

was a member, assisted his family.

THE Pattaya branch of Delaney's Irish

Pub (Royal Garden Plaza) is now in

operation. Tony Sorakrai's Band

alternates playing there and at Delaney's

in the capital (Convent Road). Lend an

ear.

THE Storyville Jazztet from Down

Under, featuring jazz singer Beverly

Sheehan, is returning by popular demand.

It'll perform in the Tropical Garden of the

Amari Orchid Resort on Friday, January

23, with a grand buffet dinner - 680 baht.

And at the new Henry J. Bean's Bar and

Grill on Sunday the 25th, with a special

brunch - 550 baht. Dinner from 7 p.m.,

brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jazz

aficionados, please note.

AFTER mentioning that it has a free

barbecue every Friday evening, Terry

McBroom wants it known that he's

looking for a manager or buyer for

Shamrock Bar (Pattayaland). Interested

parties, please note.

RICHARD WYNNE of El Gordo's

Cantina will have the first exhibition of

his paintings on the 28th and 29th floor

lobby of the Bangkok Club in the Sathorn

City Tower (175 South Sathorn Road) on

Tuesday, January 20, to run for 30 days.

For more information, call 679-5550.

Drop up.

Charn Issara Tower II). All concerts start

(students with student card 50 per cent

reduction at the door) available at Asia

Books (Sukhumvit Soi 17).

Today (sponsored by Kawai) - Fong

Nam; tomorrow - musical clowns Gogol

& Max; February 7 (sponsored by

Australian Embassy) - percussion music

Eichelmann & Friends; February 21 and

SIGN in a restaurant window: "Don't

stand there and be hungry, come in and get

fed up."

WHAT'S the difference between

Chinese chopsticks and Japanese

chopsticks? According to LM Boyd,

Chinese - blunt ends, about 10 inches

long, same for both sexes. Japanese -

pointed ends, seven inches long for

women, eight inches long for men.

THE closest thing to an art theatre in the

metropolis is World Trade Theatre 2

(World Trade Centre, sixth floor).

Drawbacks are that each pic plays no

more than one week and the showing

times are odd. Still, neither should deter

cinebuffs from attending.
