* About us *

* Chihuahua street *
When our first litter arrived in 1990, we named our kennel "Småtuvan" (small tussock),
after the street on which we live.  We are not the first to breed Chihuahua on our street!

  We live in my childhood home, and behind our house once stood a small cottage
where an  elderly lady lived, and she was breeding Chihuahua.
That was back in the fifties before the longcoated became popular here in Sweden.
She had only smoothcoat, but quite a few, and they were big, red and savage.
I spent a lot of time beside our fence, and the lady was often annoyed with me as the dogs
barked incessantly whenever I lay there and peeked.
It was probably here, beside the fence, that my interest in this breed was kindled.
   Thirty years later, I also started to breed Chihuahua on this street,
not so many, mainly longcoat, quite small, god natured and
definitely not so noisy!

* Our Story *

  The first Chihuahua we bought was in 1986, a longcoat male that we called Musse.

The following year we bought our second Chihuahua, a cute  longcoated female that
         received the name Mimmi.
She was very small and petite and had a lovely  temperament.
Mimmi was thes mallest in body and the biggest in mentality of our dogs.

We developed an interest in exhibiting, and started showing Mimmi, but understood
at an early stage that the judges were not interested in this little model.
We bought another female the following year, Mia, who became a proper little showdog.
We still keep her in our lines  to be sure of the good temperament.
She also provided us with our first litter in 1990 with two smoothcoat females.
We named them Tracy and Tanita.  Both of them  had a fantastic temperament.
Tracy became a real star and we have dedicated a page to just her,
bacause she is the one who put the mark of our kennel.
At this stage we also named our kennel Småtuvan.

   We have raised a total of five litters and in each there has been at least one champion.
Despite much sorrow and grief during these last years we have continued  to breed.
          There have been a few intervals, but with such a great interest in the breed, we shall
         continue to try to produce healthy, wholesome dogs with the right temperament.

All our dogs is a part of our family,
so we can only have a few at home.
