Movie Magic is a short motion picture, spanning to an hour or so; shooting-locations involves mostly neighboring sites located in our home-town, Norrtalje, which lays near the Swedish capital, Stockholm; planned and shot by two youngsters with a savor for films the project has been kept going for three years.

Along with various financial contributions from our local culture-departments and various other local business the project has grown during the years we’ve worked with it.

The film is in short about a young teenage called Roger; apparently not a very social kind he savors his enormous interest in films and movies, and in kind spends most of his time before the television. One evening though, right amidst a parentally free movie-night he is unexpectedly drawn into the world of movies by his magic VCR; young Roger finally finds himself in the world he’s worshiped for so many years.

In the crossfire between two killer-terminators he finds himself drawn into the oddest of situations; spanning from classical gunslinger scenarios as he is put in a quick-drawing contest against a notorious criminal Black Jack he is just as swiftly drawn into a game of...monopoly against Death himself, only to be apprehended by odd aliens; in conclusion he finds himself facing the ultimate evil, Wizard, that won’t rest until Roger is an extinct entity.

Is the movie-world so fabulous? Is it wholesome to delve into its world too deeply without any side effects? What happens when the world of imagination and reality merge as one?

We started to write a script for this during the autumn of –98; in the end though we had no idea it could grow so immense as it has. Upon finishing the very first version and having shown it to our reverend teacher he advised us to seek financial aid from the cultural organ of our city. We did, and received 20000 Swedish kronors (about $2000US). The script grew, and after having gained additional contribution again the following year we started shooting. To ease the financial handling we started a small company, LL-Film.

Having started shooting in –99 we weren’t finished with the actual filming until spring –01. School and life in general didn’t allow any swifter progression; also, with the addition of being only two that handled costume, makeup, scene-construction etc, we’ve had a busy schedule. In conclusion the end result is more than satisfying.

The goal of this film is to show to others of similar interest that it –is- possible to make something productive with your spare-time, and receiving support when doing so. Rather than killing time before computer-games and movies, we wish to encourage others to do something productive. This film has been a teaching experience for us ourselves; needless to say we know more now about filming than we did upon first starting, which in itself makes it worth doing.
