Nurnburgring European GP
Pedros Accident
"After the accident, which was no fault of his own, Pedro was examined in the medical
centre."
Full story...

Heinz-Harald Frenzen, David Coulthard,
Giancarlo Fisichella, Ralf Schumacher...
...They all had the lead in at Nurburgring and they all lost it, DC Went off,
Giancarlo lost it after he's head-support loosened. Frenzens Jordan gave up and finally
Ralf Schumacher got a puncture but was able to re-enter in fourth position in the
difficult conditions, with a dry start, later on rain showers, dry again, and again some
rain.
Jean Alesi made a spectacular good
start (as usually) and gained four places into the first corner, unfortunately pedro was
hit by Wurz and he's Sauber tipped over, it looked very bad there for a moment, but Pedro
made 'thumbs up' to the audience before taken to hospital. Stay tuned for more on Pedros
condition. Jean was in front of Today's winner Johnny Herbert, today's second place
man Jarno 'hit-man' Trulli and third place Barrichello at the early stages of the race, on
lap 11 Jean however lost four places, the TV cameras missed the incident, later in the
race Jean picket up several places in the wet. Then disaster struck again and the Sauber
resigned again at the end at pit-row, after Jeans second pit-stop.

Yes rain!
It was The perfect Alesi-weather today in qualifying for the
European GP, everything was set for a great session, the track dried as the session went
on Jean made some good laps and was with 5 minutes to go second on the grid, but as we all
know needier Jean or the Sauber team have to much of a tactical skill... Jean ended up
16th on the grid, even behind his teammate Pedro. Heinz-Harald Frentzen snatched pole in
the last during minutes of the qualifying session and will start in the front row with
Coulthard beside him and Mika and Ralf Schumacher in the second row.

European 1998
Last year the GP at Nurnburgring was called the Luxenburg GP and these was
Jeanīs words after the GP were he finised 10th:
"I had too much wheelspin at the start so I was slow away. All round the lap I had to
defend my position but I always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! After
that it was just tough, but we finished, which is important. It's just a shame that F1 is
so competitive at the moment. Our lap times were good, but things are so close that
everything must be right - practice and qualifying, not just the race.." |
