San Marino Grand Prix 26 April
Me:

Live report from Italy !

It was a wonderful day and Alesi made another great start, into eight in the firs corner. He pited at lap 20 in sixth, and the Sauber pit crew got him out in fifth in front of H-H Frenzen. Only to lose the place at the next stop. But a good race overall and one point! Now I'm really would like to see a wet race in Spain (Not to likely is it? )
Sadly Johnny Herbert in the other Sauber ended his day after 13 laps with gearbox trouble. See complete

Jean Alesi:
" Today the car was very good, and after I made another good start I was able to run with the Benettons and Heinz-Harald Frentzen's Williams. My last set of tyres was one I used in qualifying, so it was not quite so effective as the first two, but I am happy for sixth place and the car's consistency.
If we can improve our qualifying performance, I am confident that we can score even better results in the future. The racing is so competitive this season that you really need to start from the first four rows. "

Johnny Herbert:
"My start wasn't great because I had too much wheelspin, but what really spoiled things for me was when Hill and Wurz seemed to get involved with one another just ahead of me. There was dirt and debris everywhere and I had to take avoiding action, which cost me momentum and places. I was bottled up behind Trulli when I detected a puncture on the right rear tyre. I made it back to the pits, but then there was a misunderstanding between myself and the team. Our radio communications became very confused and I understood that there was damage to the rear suspension and got out of the cockpit. By the time we realised that the problem was just a puncture, it was too late to continue."
