Way Past Cool is a band
in the soul/jazz-genre. We often play around the clubs in Stockholm and
have done so for several years. The bandmembers are influenced by a lot
of different musical styles. This results in a fusion of jazz, clubmusic
and latin-american rhythms. A few years ago we where a strictly instrumental
band with strong connections to the mid 70’s sound. Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters
and soundtracks from the blaxploitation era where major influences.
Recently we have changed our sound closer to soul and clubmusic and our singer, Anna N’jai Sise, is participating in most of the material. Her beautiful voice has inspired us to do more vocal material. More soul but always with a jazzy feel. Nowadays we are often compared to the British soul/jazz-project Incognito. That´s flattering.
