and we're aiming to finally get the album released
sometime this Spring! In the mean time, for those
of you who have been anxiously waiting, we have
also been discussing the idea with Angular Records
of releasing an Angular Records Compilation EP which
will feature 2 or 3 Valediction tracks along with
songs from other Angular Records artists such as
Eternity X, Final Conflict, Lana Lane, and others.
We do appreciate your patience... believe me, it will
be well worth the wait!

long story there too) have started a new band.
This project currently has no name, but we have
already completed 5 songs. A date or location
for our first performance has not been set yet,
but expect a mid-May to early-June time. Maybe
we'll celebrate the new Star Wars movie or
something! :) The new songs are Psyco Drama at
the next level.
The members are: Corey Brown-Vocals *
Toby Kinnaman-guitars *
Hercules J. Castro-guitars +

After the wonderful "Memoires", their lineup has been deeply changed,
only the bass player and the singer are still part of the band. The
guitar player (who left Italy due to work reasons)
will still collaborate with them in the near future, and he's trying to
promote the band in the USA in the meanwhile.
They're about putting out a double mini album, one cover-only disc and
one with new music. The album should be out in a month or two, and the
title will probably be "Fingerprints of the Gods".
For the future the band is planning a new full-length album, that should
be called "Earth Chronicles".

Latest GRASS news, from GRASS Newsletter March 1999, is as follows :
|
 |
|
It might sound like a cliche, but GRASS as a band have grown. They have
grown in a literal sense in that they have gone from a four piece to a five
piece, and they have grown in a musical sense with their new album " The
Velvet Revolution " showing a more subtle and mature side of the band whilst
keeping all of the raw emotion captured within their first album " Cafe
Culture " .
As with their previous work the main quality of The Velvet Revolution will be
thoughtfully crafted songs recorded in a way that retains the spirit of a
band playing together, and using classic sounds from real instruments, with a
bias towards the use of electric and acoustic guitars to give a distinctive
feel to the sound.
The band in fact have a brand new lineup including foundermembers, Vocalist
Ant Short and Guitarist Pete Wheatley, along with new additions Drummer Tim
Welding, Guitarist Roy Grove and Bassman Ian Grove, also on backing vocals.
The band are planning to do several tours in 1999 to promote the new
material, the first of these starting in April, see attatched sheet for
details.
Recording and Artwork for the new album are in hand with release details to
be announced shortly.
GRASS have a new email address - peter@talulla.freeserve.co.uk. Our webpage
is currently not available but we should shortly have a new page upon the
freeserve network.
GRASS tour dates:
Thur 22 April Xposure Rock Cafe, Fletchers Walk, Birmingham.

New Destiny Line Up, New Albums ! :
|
 |
|
Destiny is a Swedish band that plays progressive power metal with an edge
of thrash metal. Latest album "The Undiscovered Country (GNW001) out now!
Just a week before Destiny's concert with In Flames, in Gothenburg, Sweden
February the 5:th, guitarist Knut Hassel decided to leave the band.
Fortunately enough Pagan guitarist Anders "Fagge" Fagerstrand was available
and after just two rehearsals with the band he was invited to replace Knut
on a permanent basis. The concert, which was a success, was also the
premier for the bands new drummer Tomas Fredén, formerly of Danish band
Twilight. Tomas is of course Swedish even though he recorded one album with
the Danes.
Finally, for the first time in many years Destiny have a full five man line
up: Zenny Gram - vocals, Stefan Björnshög - bass, Gunnar Kindberg -
guitars, Anders Fagerstrand - guitars and Tomas Fredén - drums. The band is
now looking forward to the recording of their fifth, as yet untitled, album
in March. Destiny have also been invited to record songs to tribute albums
for Yngwie Malmsteen, Black Sabbath and Demon.
As reported before Destiny also plan to re release their three first albums
Nothing Left To Fear, Atomic Winter and Beyond All Sense. At this stage it
seams likely that the albums will be completely re-recorded versions with
possibly some bonus tracks. These albums will probably be released to
coincide with the 15 year jubilee of Destiny's first album, Beyond All
Sense, next year.

Ayeron news :
|
 |
|
Here is some NEWS about the line-up for the new albums. As you might know already, Ayreon is planning to release two albums simultaneously in the year 2000. One of the albums will be very mellow, with only female singers, the other one will be very heavy, with only male singers. Some names for the heavy album: On vocals Ian Parry (Elegy), Ralf Scheepers (Ex-Gamma Ray, Primal Fear), Edwin Balagh (Tamas, Omega, also known as the Roman from Into The Electric Castle), Savatage's Jon Oliva has been asked to participate, he was eager about it and hopes to have time later this year to do some vocals on the new Ayreon project. Aside from these singers Arjen had (according to german magazine 'Heavy Oder Was') Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween) and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) in mind, but they have not been asked yet. On keyboards we will again enjoy the wizardry of Arena's Clive Nolan and Erik Norlander (Lana Lain, Rocket Scientists). The only female vocalist for now that has been named for the mellow album is Lana Lain. Well, isn't this list impressive????

A new progressive festival, PROGPOWER :
|
 |
|
Hi,
This is the first official press release of ProgPower, a new progressive
festival to be held on Sunday 14 November 1999, in 013, Tilburg, The
Netherlands. Feel free to publish the news in your magazine or website.
We are proud to announce that the first, full progressive metal festival in
Europe will definetely take place, ProgPower 1999! The event will be held
on
Sunday 14 November 1999, in 013, Tilburg, The Netherlands. No bands are
confirmed, but a lot of bands have shown serious interest. The festival
will be organized by Dutch guys Erik van Geel (webmaster Ayreon homepage),
Martijn Balsters (guitarist Forever Times), Rene Janssen (webmaster Dutch
Progressive Rock Page) and their Swedish friend Mattias Norén (webmaster
The Progressive Art Page).
Next week we will open the official homepage, www.progpower.com. In the
future that will be the place where you will find all the information you
need, like bands info, ticket info, sponsors, nenue info, etc, etc! We are
still looking for some sponsors, so if you know someone who might be
interested or if you would like to become a sponsor of the event, feel free
to contact us.
The festival will be a charity festival, because we don't want to make
money
with it! The festival is for the fans and for the bands, only to promote
this
great music genre even much more! At the moment progressive metal is rather
popular, but it can become even more popular we think! In a couple of weeks
we hope to announce the charity organization ProgPower will co-orporate
with!
If you're website and/or magazine wants to pay some serious attention to
the
festival, please contact us! We want to make this event special for
everyone,
so hopefully you will help us promoting it in your country. We cannot
spend a
lot of money to advertising, we can only hope you will advertize for free!
Of
course we will have some free tickets for you and we will do some promotion
for you on the internet and during the festival, that's all we can offer
right now. If you want to publish a full/half page advertisement, please
contact us. We'll discuss things and we'll see what we can do then. 1 thing
is for sure, it will be a great event, so hopefully you will help us
promoting ProgPower 1999!
More news about bands, the venue, etc, etc, in the next newsletter!
This newsletter will be published on a regular base, if you would like to
be removed from this list, let me know! Just send an email and we will
remove you from the list!
