This album is the one that made me listening to Symponhy X in the first place. I think the introducing title track
is something that can blow your mind of right away. I mean, when you first hear this tune, and haven't heard the
band before, you know that it's a start of something real good. There's actually not one bad song on this album,
but still it's not comparable to the later releases "The Divine Wings of Tragedy" and "Twilight in Olympus".
This says quite a lot of Sympohny X.
The vocal style is the same as on the other albums, only less aggressive. Russell is more of a regular Malmsteen
singer these days, and later he advanced into a more characteristic style. In fact all the members show a very
high quality of playing on the album. Romeo is there with the minor harmonic scales, Miller with his fantastic
break fills, Pinnella adding the beautiful piano and Rullo with his marvelous time changing style.
The negative thing about "Damnation Game" is the production. Even though it's the same producers as on the later
albums, they don't seem to get what they want with the sound. It's also a possibility that there is one song too much.
