"Illuminating Heights" is an EP released during the autumn of 1997 by the German band Sunblaze. The EP features two tracks totaling 24 minutes, which produced by the band. The band consists of five musicians. The use of violin is frequent adding depth and orchestral feel to the music. Flute and clarinet is also used. Stylistically progressive metal, although the use of violins and other non-metal instruments would make "progressive metal orchestra" a more reasonable categorization. The term "progressive metal orchestra" is also how they describe their own music. The combination results in remarkably fascinating music, movie-like, but still heavy, and sometimes very technical. Powerful is the word. The beautiful arrangements, the amazing choirs, the heaviness, and the superb crystal clear production make "Illuminating Heights" an inspirational independent release.
