It all started in the early eighties, when Mike Baker, Carl Cadden-James, Ron Evans and John Coonie
played together in a band called, Sorceror. During these days the reportoire was mostly filled by
cover songs from bands such as Rush, Maiden, Yngwie Malmsteen, Deep Purple, and many others.
In 1985 guitarist Chris Ingles entered the band, but just to play the keyboards, since the
guitars was done by Brendt Allman. Later on Chris left the band with the purpose of
studying theology and music, and at the same time the band got an interest from Mike Varney.

At this time Ron Evans left the band due to musical directions. He wanted to do the basic rock
instead, and Chris Ingles was asked to re-join on keyboards. The band had just changed name to
Shadow Gallery and put together an 8-track demo. This piece was well recieved by Magna Carta
and was quickly pressed as CD and out for sales. This was the self-titled debut album. Shadow
Gallery was the second band (after Magellan) to join Magna Carta. The possibilties of an
japanese tour came, and the search for an additional member started. From the band "The Boxtops"
they found guitarist/keyboardist Gary Wehrkamp. The thought was that he was just going to fill in
on live shows, but after three weeks he was a member of the band. After long sessions of writing
and demo recordings, Shadow Gallery later on recorded the second album, "Carved In Stone"
with Kevin Soffera on drums. The plans was to go on tour, but got stuck with some contributions
on the Magna Carta Tribute albums for Yes, Pink Floyd and Genesis. Brendt Allman also appeared
on the tribute to Rush, along with Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) and Billy Sheehan (Mr.Big).
This caused a break for Shadow Gallery, but later on in 1996 the other members also contributed
to Working Man which caused even more delay in the work of Shadow Gallery. |

Each and everyone of them started working on their own for what was finally going to be the third release
"Tyranny". Rehearsal with the new drummer Joe Nevolo started and in November 1997 they went
in and recorded the drums for the album in less than 4 days. The rest was later on recorded and
the tapes were sent to Magna Carta for a release. Tours followed and that's where we are today.
