GENERATION 13
Written by Wilfred de Bruijn

Saga is a very changing band, with every album different. Before this 1995 album they released the very weak "Steel Umbrellas", which brought them a lot of critical comments. The concept album Generation 13 gave them a lot of credit again and is considered as one of their strongest yet. It is inspired by the book "13 Gen" by Neil Howe and Bill Strauss and it's about a boy who's in search of his father, finds him as a typical example of white trash, but finds himself eventually the same as his father. In other words: a quest to find yourself might be a very sad experience. Not a very happy story, but it gives you a lot of things to think about. Keywords are: heavy, emotional, atmosphere, mechanical and original. Greatest album of a good band.
